Here some pictures of the male of the White-speckled Smoke, a common species in Central Europe and Britain. As you can see the adults do look like many other small and rather primitive moths. The caterpillars and the females live in a bag, constructed of rubbish and other stuff they come across.

The White-speckled Smoke is scientifically also known as Narycia monilifera.
